“My mom referred me to Schaefer (Erie Auto Insurance) years ago. I have no regrets. My insurance rates have been very competitive. I’ve honestly shopped around over the years to see if there might’ve been a better rate with a comparable company…nope. My auto premiums were so good I added home owners insurance. But about the actual company. They’re great. They’re like family. Always friendly and there to help. I even get a Christmas card every year -never fails. I have yet to find a reason to leave. I guess mom’s do know best. :)”

“Great customer service and Great people. They are the kind of company that if you have a small issue you get a call from an owner. They write with multiple companies so even if you have the driving record that rivals a fast and furious movie they will get you insured. We have our car insurance thru them and are about to add a few more policies. Can’t go wrong. Plus the owner with the mustache is a true delight. Love him to death!!!!”

“I had a family trip to go to Austria and it was not happening due to covid. After initially seeing these reviews I was afraid I wouldn’t get my money back. After speaking to a customer service rep, I was advised that they would refund my full amount, but it would take up to two months. He left me with his contact info to call back if I had any questions or other concerns. Two months passed and I called and they were still waiting on my airfare. A week after I had my full refund. Though it was vexing going through the motions I was able to get my full refund. Tripmasters has a lot of good reviews prior to covid and this was monumental circumstances that no travel agency was prepared for. My advice is stay calm and polite and work through it.”

“I have been with Schaefer Insurance for about 10 years. I rarely write reviews, but I recently had my passenger side view mirror hit and damaged, and the dread of calling for a claim, that was not my fault, etc, and sick knowing my car only had 2,500 miles.
I called Raul, and explained, and he immediately put me at ease.I was able to get it fixed within 3 days, no hassle, no mess. Raul acted very professional, and understanding of how this upset me. I am so happy to be a part of a local company, that I can call directly and speak to a real human being.
REAL CUSTOMER SERVICE, that is hard to find, and much appreciated!!

“I’ve had nothing but great service from Schaefer. I really prefer a relationship with an insurance company where I send them a check and otherwise never have to communicate with them – no accidents, no dead cars, no stolen stuff – but this has not been my luck over the past several years.
I have had car insurance with them for several years (had to use more than once), then I added renter’s insurance (also had to use) which I’ve since switched out for homeowner’s (knock on wood, haven’t had to use yet). We’ll probably use them for life insurance when we need that. My rates are great (through Erie Insurance). They’re always friendly, helpful, and interested in getting me a good deal.
I’m disturbed by the previous reviewer’s experience. They’re family-run and most people in there are a Schaefer or married to a Schaefer, which might explain the whitewashing. I can’t speak from personal experience whether they’re racist or not, but obviously I hope that this person had one bad experience that’s not reflective of the company as a whole.”
